Candidate Criteria

Individuals interested in applying for Leadership Cattaraugus should meet the following criteria:

• Live and/or work in Cattaraugus County.

• Possess a strong desire to build a better community.

• Willingly participate in a growing network of knowledgeable and committed trained leaders.

• Actively participate in order to develop strong leadership skills necessary to positively contribute to the cohort and, ultimately, the surrounding community.

• Have the support from his or her sponsoring organization to attend programming and planning sessions.

Expectations of Participants

Participants in Leadership Cattaraugus will commit to a 10-month schedule of monthly day-long sessions focusing on a range of topics relevant to Cattaraugus County, which may include economic development, education, government, health care, board member development, recreation and tourism, and others. Participants will be expected to assist in the development of the sessions which will result in the growth of the individual’s overall awareness of the topic, the available resources, and his or her own leadership skills. Participants will have the opportunity and are expected to network with community leaders and a diverse group of developing leaders. These relationships will benefit Leadership Cattaraugus Alumni for years to come.

It is the hope of the founding committee that all of our graduates will go on to serve as volunteers for community projects and organizations, to serve on a board of directors, and/or run for public office!

Leadership Cattaraugus has a limited amount of Financial Aid available. You must apply for it, at the link, below. The cost of the Leadership Cattaraugus 9 month program is $1200 per person. This includes all materials, meals, and covers the cost of the initial retreat.
