Leadership Cattaraugus Quotes - Class of 2004
"I came in open minded, and continue to feel that LC provides all participants with an opportunity to share ideas, build friendships, and work toward a common goal of making our community a better place to live and work. The contacts associated with LC are invaluable. Any leader in the community can find a positive benefit in sharing ideas and suggestions in this type of setting." Jay Sorokes, Cooper Power Systems
"I would say that Leadership Cattaraugus did help me to accomplish the goals that I had coming into the program, which were, primarily, to make connections with a broad spectrum of leaders and potential leaders within the county; and, secondarily, to learn more about leadership itself. The contacts that I have made with my fellow students has been very valuable, including the variety of enterprises that they represent, such as manufacturing, healthcare, education, public sector, human services, and non-profits. Additionally, the quality and variety of monthly topics has been an excellent education about our community. I have learned a great deal more than I knew about government, education, economic development, tourism, and the media, and it has all been informative and quite worthwhile. My organization will surely benefit from the study of the nature of leadership as I practice it, because I am in a strong leadership position and will assuredly have an opportunity to practice what I have learned in the behavioral science approach utilized in the program." Paul Denning, Millard Fillmore Hospital
"Coming from the non profit sector of the community, contacts with the for profit sector are being made. It is invaluable for me to connect with "the other half" of the community to be more in sync with how that world revolves. There are many similarities between non profit and profit, but I feel there are equally as many differences. By sitting side by side on a regular basis, it has afforded me the opportunity to learn about the issues that they face and how they deal with obstacles. I no longer look at the community as us (non profit corporate), and them (for profit corporate). We are all spokes in the wheels that carry the community forward." Joanne McAndrew, Literacy Volunteers
"Great job folks! In particular the morning session discussion on the state of health care in our nation was very interesting." John Stevens, JB Stevens, Organizational Solutions, Inc.
"I was impressed with how much I didn't know. There is a lot to learn. Thanks Brian and Paul! Thanks Leadership!" Cheryl Parris, St. Bonaventure University
